I don’t usually do these book tags, but I’m stuck at home and I’ve been finding the WWW tag pretty fun to read. I just binged a bunch from other book bloggers, so I decided I’d do one myself. It won’t be a regular thing with me. I blog sporadically and I’m not so much a book blogger as I am a book blogger/let-me-go-on-rants-that-prove-what-internet-trash-I-am blogger, but you know..I blog about books at times.
Okay, so the WWW tag is three easy questions:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you will read next?
What I’m Currently Reading
I read multiple books at once, but usually have one or two main books.
My main books right now are the second Wheel of Time book, The Great Hunt (I AM gonna read the entire series! All 4 million plus words!)
And also the medieval classic L’Morte d’Arthur. This is a series of French manuscripts from the 12th century that were translated by the knight Sir Thomas Malory in the late medieval period. One of my medieval lit professors warned me against this book, saying it was translated far too late in the middle ages to really count as medieval. She tried to steer me towards Chaucer instead. I’ve read some Chaucer, but I also want to give this a try. The stories are fun, but sometimes they have about as much plot as My Immortal or an equally trashy fanfiction from 2003. Events are just listed without any context. Parts of it feel like a real fever dream, not gonna lie.
Then on wattpad, I’m currently reading “Joy” by Emily Hurricane and “Teenage Baby” by @anyone187. Like my book, Incel, Teenage Baby was deleted from wattpad (funny how that only seems to happen to those of us writing male protagonists). Teenage Baby is psychological horror, not smut. It has nothing to do with all that weird Little trash that pollutes wattpad. Anyone187 recently reuploaded the work, just as I did with Incel (hiding it under the title Over, Buddy Boyo.) The poor girl lost 700k reads and has to start from scratch. I’m rereading to support her and do my part to combat wattpad censorship.
What I Recently Finished Reading
I read a bunch of stuff in the past few weeks.
I reread the Anglo-Saxon classic Beowulf.
I read several works by the medieval poet Marie de France, through Project Gutenburg. These included The Lay of the Nightingale, Lanval, and a few others.
I read The Cantos by Ezra Pound, The Wasteland by T.S. Elliot, and several poems by H.D.
What do I think I will read next?
I’m going to attempt to tackle The Way of Kings again. Sanderson’s work is hella heavy, but everyone raves about his work and you can’t really be a part of the fantasy community without reading some Sanderson.
I’m also really in the mood for a good historical romance. I have a few on my shelf I haven’t gotten to yet. I usually buy a few every time I’m at the supermarket….don’t judge. Yes, a good Johanna Lindsay will probably be a good break from Stormlight when I start feeling overwhelmed by all that worldbuilding again.
Well, that’s it for me! What books are you reading right now?
Have you read any of the ones on my list?
See ya! XD
