What Am I Reading this Wednesday? WOT and Acid Trip Academic Papers

Oh, I suppose I’ll do this tag again. For someone who calls themselves a book blogger, I should spend more time actually blogging about books.

What Are You Currently Reading?

Um…still The Great Hunt. The Wheel of Time Books are no joke. I’ll still be reading the same damn book next week too. My husband is rushing me. We both decided we’d tackle the WOT series together. It took us forever to track down book number two. We had to go on a great hunt….for The Great Hunt! XD (He’s sick of that joke, but that makes it even funnier for me).

He started reading Stormlight Archive while waiting for me to finish The Great Hunt, and this man read the whole thousand freaking pages of The Way of Kings in the time it took me to get halfway through The Great Hunt. Now, he keeps going, “You gonna be done soon? How much further you got?”

It will probably take me another couple of weeks to finish, because I only read 30 pages a day.

What did you just finish reading?

Well, I’m taking a course in Medieval Literature right now. I’ve taken a few courses in Medieval literary studies before….somebody stop me before I start applying to Phd programs please. I’m so in debt and I don’t know why I keep doing this to myself.

I honestly just really love to learn and I do want to be a professor one day.

One of the reasons I want to be a professor is so that I can do some damage control against the SJW hijacking of higher ed.

For example, today I finished reading a forty page scholarly paper titled, “Sodomy, Misogyny, and Displacement: Occluding Queer Desire in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.”

Eg kak! Even in medieval studies, you can’t get away from it. Everything is feminist.

I’m so sick of feminism.

I probably could have done without this acid trip of a paper that explained to me how a knife wound is actually a symbolic vagina, and the act of stabbing is symbolic homosexual sex, and then thousands of words digging into why this is misogynistic, hegemonic….ohmygod….And the paper literally quotes Freud and references the Oedipal complex. I can’t with this.

So, I guess, I like academia. But I also really hate academia.

Academia would be cool if there was a non-SJW version of it. That’s the version I want to offer students one day.

And not the version I’ve had to live through, where everything is misogynistic and sometimes professors try to convince you that Gregor in Kafka’s The Metamorphosis is actually trans and him turning into a cockroach is a metaphor for body disphoria. Like…that has to be leftism gone so far it’s now offensive, right?

But I digress. All I’ve finished reading lately is indoctrinating academic papers.

What do you plan to read next?

The rest of the Wheel of time series!

That’s why I probably can’t do any more of these WWW posts. They’ll get boring. I’m going to be reading Wheel of Time for the next five years of my life.
